Lost in last night's election results, Samuel Wurzelbacher a.ka. "Joe the Plumber," is now an elected official.

Sort of.

Wurzelbacher (or is it Plumber on second reference?) won "election as a Republican committeeman for northwest Ohio's Lucas County," USA Today writes.

"The Associated Press reports that Wurzelbacher won a spot on the Lucas County Republican committee by a 38-23 vote in his suburban Toledo precinct. That makes him one of nearly 400 committee members who set the agenda and pick a chairman for the local party."

Some had encouraged him to run for Congress, but that didn't materialize, but is that in the cards in the future?

"Joe the Plumber" was No. 2 on our Top 10 Most Overhyped stories of the decade. Here's what we wrote: "What a ridiculous story. His name wasn't Joe, and he wasn't a plumber. Yet John McCain said his name 20 times in the last presidential debate with Barack Obama (who wound up saying it five times himself in that debate)."

Just goes to show the repugnant ones will let anything in as a politician. Joe the Fake Plumber and all around liar doesn't deserve to be a public official if he can't pay his taxes, but the repugnant ones are criminal huggers who think that tax evaders like Jerky Joe the Fake Plumber is some kind of hero when all he is is a total zero. Jerky Joe the Fake Plumber was grossly overhyped by fox and freaks and really deserves the top spot as the most overhyped story unless the Wasilla Hillbilly is rated number one on the overhyped list.

Pay Your Taxes Jerky Joe the Fake Plumber!

Anyone remember Financial Reform ?
What ever happened to it ???

'...Reid: GOP Wasting Our Time On Financial Reform Legislation

Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Harry Reid (D-NV)

Democrats, Filibuster, Financial Reform, Harry Reid, Republicans, Senate

It's been a week since Democrats broke a GOP financial reform filibuster, allowing debate on the legislation on the Senate floor. But debate means amendments, and amendments mean votes, and there have been precisely zero of those since the logjam broke. Why not? Apparently, it's because Repulbicans are unwilling to bring up their own amendments for the time being.

"This is really something," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, visibly angry on the floor yesterday. "[The GOP] will not let us vote on amendments [they] offered, amendments that we've agreed to--they won't let us vote on them."

Republicans are holding out until their top negotiator--Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL)--gets a vote on his first amendment, changing the way the bill winds down large, failed financial firms. Reid sees no reason for this, calling it a "phantom amendment." And, indeed, the procedural objection fits the GOP pattern of trying to run the clock as long as possible on every issue, to eat up floor time needed to consider other issues, including climate change, and the forthcoming Supreme Court nominee.

Perhaps because of that, Reid is already warning members: be prepared to cancel your vacation plans.

"[W]e started on this two weeks ago tomorrow -- two weeks ago," Reid said on the floor this morning. "And we have been stalled ever since. Now maybe today there will be a breakthrough, and we'll be able to legislate. We don't have a lot of time to spend on this bill."
