DALLAS COUNTY, TX -- At least two tornadoes appear to have touched down in areas around Dallas on Tuesday.

Weather service advisories issued Tuesday said storm spotters and radar revealed separate tornadoes south of Dallas and Fort Worth.

The weather service says the tornado south of Fort Worth caused “considerable damage” near Cleburne.

The “large and extremely dangerous” tornado was near Lancaster about 20 miles south of Dallas and moving north, according to the weather service.

"This is a serious situation," the NBC affiliate reported over the air, as meteorologists showed live footage of "debris balls" in Dallas and Tarrant counties.

Sirens blared in the downtown Dallas, urging residents to take shelter.

A code black was issued at Parkland Hospital in the city, ordering all patients to be kept a safe distance from the windows.

Live video broadcast by WFAA showed a huge funnel cloud moving through a populated area as flashes of exploding power lines lit the sky.

The weather service is also reporting other developing tornadoes as a band of severe storms moves through the area.
