BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KTLA) -- Actress Amanda Bynes is due in a Beverly Hills courtroom on Wednesday, a day after she was officially charged with driving under the influence.

The misdemeanor charge filed Tuesday relates to her April 6 arrest in West Hollywood after she allegedly sideswiped a police car.

The 26-year-old is going straight to the top to plead her innocence, sending a tweet to President Obama asking him to fire the cop who stopped her.

Bynes wrote: "Hey @BarackObama… I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end."

Bynes was pulled over and then arrested around 3 a.m. on April 6 at the intersection of Robertson Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard.

A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy in marked black-and-white radio car was waiting to turn right onto Santa Monica, when a black BMW driven by Bynes tried to pass to the right of the car.

Bynes hit the rear quarter panel of the cop car, according to the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department.

She was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The criminal complaint also alleges that Bynes refused to complete a Breathalyzer or drug test.

If convicted, she faces a maximum penalty as a first-time offender of 48 hours in jail, three years probation and a nine-month alcohol program.

She could also lose her driver's license for a year.

The incident in West Hollywood was the first of several recent driving mishaps for the starlet.

About a week after her arrest, she backed over a curb while texting, right before going to a West Hollywood nightclub.

A week later, she was spotted holding up traffic while making a slow three-point U-turn.
