LOS ANGELES -- Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan's probation has been revoked and a bench warrant issued for her arrest, according to celebrity website TMZ.com
The bench warrant is expected to be held until Lohan's scheduled court appearance this Friday.
The hearing was set after Lindsay apparently failed a recent court-ordered drug test.
The 24 year old actress admitted the "setback" Friday night on her Twitter feed and said she was "ready to face the consequences."
"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before Judge Fox next week as a result," she wrote.
"This is certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences," she wrote a few minutes later.
Saturday morning Lohan thanked her fans for their support. "I am so thankful for the support of my fans, loved ones and immediate family, who understand I am trying hard," she wrote.
"But, also that I am a work in progress, just as anyone else, and I am hopeful... Thank you all!!!"
Reports of the failed drug test surfaced Friday, but it was unclear if Lohan failed one or more court ordered drug tests. Also unclear, was what substance triggered the positive result.
However, TMZ.com is reporting on their website that the drug was cocaine.
TMZ's sources say Lohan failed another drug test, but that test was not positive for cocaine.
The tests were both reportedly conducted within a short span of each other.
The failed tests could constitute a probation violation.
A judge had threatened Lohan with 30 days in jail for each probation violation.
A hearing would be conducted before Lohan could be returned to jail.
Los Angeles County District Attorney's spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said no such hearing had been scheduled as of Friday afternoon.
Lohan was released from inpatient rehab on August 24th after spending 22 days at UCLA Medical Center.
After her release, a judge ordered the 24-year old to undergo a rigorous outpatient rehab program that includes psychotherapy, random drug and alcohol testing and frequent counseling.
Under the terms of Lohan's probation, she will get 30 days in jail for a positive drug test.
D.A. spokesperson Sandi Gibbons tells TMZ.com that her office has not been "officially notified" of the test results and no court date has been set yet.
Lohan checked into the UCLA rehab facility on August 2 for a 90 day court-ordered stay. She entered the facility after spending 14 days in jail.
The "Mean Girls" star was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days in a substance abuse treatment center for violating her probation in a 2007 drug case.
Judge Fox dismissed two drug counts that Lohan had pleaded guilty to in 2007. He also said she will remain on supervised probation only until November unless she makes a mistake.
Fox took over the Lohan case after another judge, Marsha Revel, recused herself. A prosecutor had complained the judge met with defense attorneys and called rehabilitation programs without notifying her.
Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said last month the actress was eager to prove that she can comply with Fox's orders.
"She has changed," Holley said. "She's healthy. She's clear-headed. She is positive at looking forward."

why not furnish her and Paris with every drug known, as much as they could do in a year, and lock them in a room together for a week. Then we would not have to hear about them ever again. Problem solved! There are no laws for the poor and these two make a joke of the legal system and they know it. Personnally if I see one of these two on this web site again I will read the news from KNBC, of KABC. This site has become a celeb inquirer new source.

Not surprisingly that both Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton are on the news again. Neither one is a role-model. Two fools and nothing more!

Of course she will get away with it again.. If the average person were to do this they would be in jail. She makes a mockery out of the court and the courts sit and take it. The LA sheriff should hold her the entire sentence and see what happens. The rish rule..

I agree with MontrealKim. If Lindsay was not a celebrity she would have been back in jail after the first test was failed, not after several. And who knows if she'll even be sentenced to jail. She is thumbing her nose at the judicial system because she can. She should have been kept in jail and rehab for the full amount of time the original judge ordered her to serve. No reduced sentences and no special treatment. I'm afraid we'll be reading about her tragically soon.

What happened to the 3 strikes your out (or in) law? She just keeps making a mockery of us all!

Although the bench warrant was issued, it's being held -- i.e., on hold -- until Friday at 8:30 AM, when Lindsay is ordered to appear in court.
The move by Judge Elden Fox comes after TMZ's story ... that Lindsay failed two drug tests recently ... one showed the presence of cocaine and another showed amphetamines.
The probation report -- outlining the failed tests -- was just filed with the court.

TMZ broke the story that Lindsay tested positive for cocaine last week. Sources connected with the case tell us Lindsay failed another test as well -- we're told it was not for cocaine, but they would not be more specific.
And our sources say ... the tests were both conducted within a short span of each other.
Lindsay could face 30 days behind bars for each failed drug test.
