These numbers are a little old, for 2007.
The top 1% owns 42% of America's financial wealth.
The next 4% owns 27% of America's finacial wealth.
The next 5% owns 11% of America's financial wealth.
The next 10% owns 12% of America's financial wealth.
The Top 20% of Americans owns 92% of America's financial wealth.
The Bottom 80% of Americans owns 7% of America's financial wealth.
(there is a 1% give on the percentages for numbers less than 1%)
#1 - is that ratio increasingly favoring the wealthy or is it sliding in the other direction? #2 - For the percentage marked as "the next 10% owns 12% of America's financial wealth" what determines this percentage? That is, how much, say, annual income does someone have to acquire in order to qualify to membership in this class?
