Man Shoots and Kills Co-Worker During Violent Struggle
Ontario workplace shooting (KTLA News)
ONTARIO -- A man was shot and killed Wednesday during a bizarre struggle with a co-worker at a trucking company in Ontario.
Ontario police received a call around 1:00 p.m. from a man who said he had gotten into a fight and shot his assailant, according to Ontario Sgt. David McBride.
Officers responded to the Guasti Industrial Park, and found a 48-year-old Bobby Rojas, of Montebello, dead from several gunshot wounds.
The surviving man was described only as a Hesperia resident in his mid-30s.
Rojas hid and waited for the other man to arrive at the trucking company office, then attacked him and bound his hands and feet with duct tape, police said.
Rojas then taunted him for an hour with a gun.
The victim said he was able to escape his ties and struggled with Rojas, grabbing the gun and shooting him.
Rojas was apparently a subcontracted employee who works out of that office.
McBride said police were still investigating the incident.
They will submit their findings to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office, which will decide whether to file any charges.
Police said it's likely the shooting will be justified as self-defense.
