16 arrested at Occupy Rochester event in city park

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Police say they've arrested 16 people at the Occupy Rochester protest in a downtown park.
Rochester media outlets report the arrests began early Thursday morning after police told protesters they faced arrest if they didn't vacate Washington Square Park by 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say they face charges of trespassing and violating the city's park law that prohibits people from being on the property after 11 p.m.
Since last Friday night, police have made 50 arrests at the park, where the Occupy Rochester group gathers daily.
Mayor Tom Richards says there are no sanitary facilities in the park and it's not designed for people to spend the night.
