Female Student Stabbed in Fight at Hart High School
Police have no motive yet.
SANTA CLARITA -- A female student at William S. Hart School in Newhall stabbed another girl during a fight at lunchtime, according to police.
It happened around 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday on the Hart campus, according to Gail Pinsker, Community Liason Officer for the William S. Hart Union School District.
Authorities say one 16-year-old girl stabbed another in the chest with an 8-inch knife.
The victim was taken to the Henry Mayo Hospital to be treated for her injuries. She's said to be in stable condition.
A campus deputy arrested the girl with the knife, according to Los Angeles sheriff's Lt. Tom Bryski.
She was also transported to the hospital for some minor injuries. She'll likely be charged with attempted murder, according to Bryski.
School officials say they aren't sure what prompted the fight.
They're notifying parents of Hart High School students through their voicemail notification system.
The school was not locked down, and classes resumed as normal Wednesday afternoon.
