LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- The city of Los Angeles is set to decide on new contract that could raise the cost of catching a cab at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The city council will vote Tuesday morning on a new contract for taxi cab management firm ATS.
ATS has been the cab company at LAX for 30 years and, despite concerns about mismanagement, it is likely to get a new contract with the city.
The terms of the new contract, however, would raise the company's fees from 50 cents to $1.70 every time a cab enters LAX.
And that increase would then be passed onto customers. The meters inside cabs would start at about $4, rather than the current price of $2.50.
The changes would increase annual revenue at LAX from $700,000 to about $2.7 million.
