Queens Pols: Ban So-Called "Call Girl" Cards

Queens Pols: Ban So-Called "Call Girl" Cards

Wants To Criminalize Them

Queens politicians want prostitution business cards also known as "Chica Chica" cards off a strip of Roosevelt Avenue running through Corona and Jackson Heights.

"Chica" means "girl" in Spanish.

State Sen. Jose Peralta and Assemblyman Francisco Moyo -- both Democrats -- have introduced a bill that would consider these cards obscene, subsequently making their distribution a misdemeanor.

The ubiquitous cards -- used by pimps and their stables -- feature explicit and scantily clad women and a phone number offering free delivery, according to a Daily News report.

Peralta says he realizes this won't eliminate the world's oldest profession, but says legislation would be a first step toward improving the quality of life in the area.

Meanwhile, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says this is all more easily said than done, since banning the cards would run headlong into a First Admendment hornet's nest.
