Gov. Brown Issues State of Emergency for Tsunami-effected Counties

A State of Emergency has been declared for counties along California's coast effected by Friday's tsunami.

Governor Jim Brown made the announcement for Del Norte, Humboldt, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties. All of these counties have had some level of damage to ports, harbors and coastal infrastructure.

In the official proclamation, the Governor says Humboldt and Santa Cruz counties have issued a local state of emergency, and Del Norte and San Mateo are expected to issue their own later Friday.

The official state of emergency order helps these counties get the help they need from state and regional emergency crews and facilities.

The tsunami warning that had been issued for the California coast has been downgraded to an advisory, and is still in effect Friday evening.
