SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KTLA) -- A Simi Valley teenager is accused of trying to extort money from several Las Vegas casinos by threatening to blow them up if they did pay him 'protection' money.

18-year old Zachary Jackson was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of making false bomb threats and attempted extortion.

Las Vegas police say Jackson and a juvenile accomplice, would call casinos, disguise their voices and demand large amounts of cash.

They would then threaten to blow up the casinos if their demands weren't met, according to Ventura County sheriff's officials.

The calls were made between July 28 and Aug. 8.

Detectives traced the calls to Ventura County and worked with the sheriff's department to make the arrest.

Authorities say they found voice altering devices at Jackson's home, but no bomb making materials.

Jackson is being held in the Ventura County Detention Center on $50,000 bail.

A 16-year old boy was also questioned in connection with the case, but has not been arrested.
