Diagnose Cable Box Errors, pt 4

Codes on cable box display - 24th May 2008, 12:50 AM
Hi everybody.
I am new to this forum and I think it is great. It has so much valuable info. But it seems pretty slow nowadays...

I am curious, does anyone know what the diagnostic codes on the cable box mean? I have a Scientific Atlanta 4250C box and I found that when you try to go to the diagnostic menu by holding pause button on a remote for about 10 sec until the envelope flashes and then pressing page down, you can press page up instead. Then box then shows some strange codes like E-32, E-11, E-00, r-1, 111, e.t.c. I can press numerics 1-5 to get these and then try different combinations with pause and stop. I know that box resets itself if I press stop 3 times (it shows r-1, then r-2 and then reboots).

What are all these messages for? What do they mean?
And now the most important question. Can these be used to clear PPV history or do something else interesting with the box?

Thank you for the answer. I thought these are error codes. But I don't understand why would the box show them if I press something on the remote.
For example, I press and hold "pause" for 10 sec, then press "page down", then press "1" - I am getting E-13. The box if fine, it does not have any problems loading something as you say. Then if I press "2" I get "111" on the panel, if I press "3" I get "d-1", "4"- "P-00", "5"-"b-06", "stop"-"r-1", "stop" again-"r-2". If I press "stop" 3 times in a row, the box reboots.
Are these some sort of diagnostic codes? Do you know what they say?
Thanks again.
